The Sudanese National Observatory for Human Rights expresses its deep shock and strong condemnation of the United Nations Human Rights Council’s reception of international organizations that are politically motivated and financially supported by states aligned with the Sudanese army, foremost among them Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The Observatory strongly condemns the foreign support provided to the Sudanese army, which is controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, and calls for the immediate establishment of an international investigative committee to uncover this support, its sources, and all its forms.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and Iran are providing extensive financial support and weapons — including chemical weapons — in addition to bribes aimed at buying influence, all of which prolong the bloody war in Sudan and obstruct any genuine political solution.

The Observatory affirms that this foreign support is one of the main factors exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe in the country, hindering a ceasefire, and deepening the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The Observatory also warns against attempts by certain states to politicize the Human Rights Council through “front organizations that were created, purchased, and financially supported,” and calls on the Council to open an official and transparent investigation into the states seeking to politicize its work, namely: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and Iran.

We have come here in pursuit of justice, and we urge the Human Rights Council to exert real and effective pressure on all Sudanese parties to immediately stop the war.

The Observatory further stresses the severe humanitarian suffering of millions of Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries — especially South Sudan, Chad, and Egypt — who have lost everything and are demanding only an end to the war that has destroyed their lives and forced them into displacement.

– We call for the urgent establishment of an international investigative committee into the military, financial, and chemical support provided to the Sudanese army.

– An immediate end to the politicization of the Human Rights Council.

– The exertion of genuine international pressure to stop the war.

The Observatory also calls on all international human rights organizations and friendly states to stand with the Sudanese people and support efforts to achieve justice and end the war.
